I lost my interest in later GTis and Golfs somewhere around 1992. I've
remained faithful to my A2 Golf 16V, Corrado G60, and 81 VW Truck. Its
amusing to drive to work with the oldest car in the lot. However, I did buy
my wife a Jetta MKIII a couple years back.

The newer cars lost an intangible and undescribable character that I thought
was present in the older cars. Even though they are crude by today's
standards, the older generation cars are just plain fun to drive.

With the median average new car price hovering around $35k, I've decided to
keep my existing cars and place all of my "new car" funds into my retirement
account. ;)
