I agree. I don't like MK3s mostly because they were the cause of the demise of our precious MK2s. I find myself only slightly liking MK4s mostly because they are VWs and are not as ugly as MK3s.

However, I did buy my wife a Jetta MKIII a couple years back. The newer cars lost an intangible and undescribable character that I thought was present in the older cars. Even though they are crude by today's standards, the older generation cars are just plain fun to drive. With the median average new car price hovering around $35k, I've decided to keep my existing cars and place all of my "new car" funds into my retirement account. ;)
