I agree.  I don't like MK3s mostly because they were the cause of the
demise of our precious MK2s.   I find myself only slightly liking MK4s
mostly because they are VWs and are not as ugly as MK3s.

I lost my interest in later GTis and Golfs somewhere around 1992. I've
remained faithful to my A2 Golf 16V, Corrado G60, and 81 VW Truck. Its
amusing to drive to work with the oldest car in the lot. However, I did
buy my wife a Jetta MKIII a couple years back.

The newer cars lost an intangible and undescribable character that I
thought was present in the older cars. Even though they are crude by
today's standards, the older generation cars are just plain fun to
drive.

With the median average new car price hovering around $35k, I've decided
to keep my existing cars and place all of my "new car" funds into my
retirement account.  ;)
