It does get confusing. In the passage from Pirsig above he seems to 
be talking about an MOQ-based intellect, but the reader would probably 
assume that he's talking about an SOM-based intellect. He makes no 
distinction between the two types yet obviously the MOQ views experience 
differently than SOM.  You have done yeoman duty in attempting to end the 
confusion.
