I'm pressed for time at the moment but quickly, The captain projected his cultural preconceptions on Lila, when he was Questioning her she got upset with him and told him she was what he perceived her to be, not who she really is, she says that is what most men she has met do to her. Dusenberry went to a native feast and told them they were doing it all wrong. It did not match his preconceived cultural idea of how natives Prepared a traditional feast.
