One of my favorite shows is the antique road show, where an appraiser
tries to deconstruct an item, goes into the history and attempts to get
into the skin of the craftsman who made the object. Sure some of these
products are overvalued because of snob appeal, but for most, the value
is there because there weren't many of them made and because of the
historical and geographical values attached to them.

It's interesting when appraiser points out the minute details that would
escape the average observer. The thinking and care that went into that
object.
Even the details in repairs and restorations are pointed out, and there
too, the craftsmanship has it's merits.
