Dr Mc Watt--Adrie previously. Many thanks for the Thomas Cole reference there. I hadn't heard of him, to be honest with you. However, though his subject matter tends to be a little bit traditional for me, Cole certainly has a mastery of light judging from the Internet images I found of his paintings (not unlike the English painter Joseph Turner). Now if I lived in a Victorian mansion near the Hudson river, one or two of Cole's paintings (or sketches) would definitely make for a rather nice - if not essential - complement for the house. Did you actually travel down the Hudson in a boat, btw? If so, any philosophical observations? -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adrie-reflecting Sorry that i was not clear about my investigation.I was never on the Hudson or the environment, but i'm planning for a journey to these places;i use the internet and historical and philosophical books, google maps, streetview, the library of congres, i also have relatives(far) living around the great lakes,i spoke with people on the web that are living in the Cattskill area. Cole became Famous because he made Kaaterskill falls world famous. The controverse around the naming of Katterskill, or Kaaterskill, or 'Kaatsheuvel' is of intrest to me because Kaatsheuvel(Hill) is very near here. I did some inquiry for a geographical soc overhere. And a a Mtb fanatic myself, there are two famous tracks around Kaaterskill Falls. But these are all asides. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaaterskill_Falls http://hudson-river-school.com/famous-hudson-river-school-locales/the-catskills-kaaterskill-falls/ So, if i take off to the Hudson, best book for the trip off course, LILA. Okay, now for some philo-inspi."The moq does not insist on a single truth,......" etc..(Pirsig,James,Buchanan,Mc watt?) And what do we read here,.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model-dependent_realism What Hawking is proposing here is very congruent with some of the basic a priori's of the moq,but moreover, most of the proposal is not in conflict with what was previously known. I really should like your opinion on his model dependant realism, because your inquiry into the metaphysiks of--, made a very big impression on me.
