Why? I use POP mail and leave messages on server. I delete messages and
empty trash when I want those messages to be deleted from the server. I
don't really care if the messages stay as 'marked deleted' on my local
machine. Why? Because server space is more important than local hard
disk space. I don't want Mozilla to compact my 8MB+ Inbox all the time
but I do want the messages off my server bcos I may only have 10MB of
server space. Since we already have 2 seperate options for emptying
trash and compacting folders, why don't we leave the functionality as
separate? Empty trash shouldn't compact folders. if a user wants to
compact folders he should compact folders using the Menu option.

This 'feature' got introduced recently. Was this a bug fix for some bug?
Can I get the bug-id in that case. More importantly, is there a
user-pref to turn this off?
