NO, the user still *sees* the message in the *inbox*!!! It has a little 
red "x" on the icon. And since the user is physically LOOKING AT and 
WORKING IN the INBOX (and *sees* his marked as deleted messages!!!), he 
will be very surprized when he selects to emty the TRASH and suddenly 
messages in his INBOX disapear!!!

I couldn't possibly be more clear than this!!!

Oh, that really makes a lot of sense: empty the trash and stuff in the 
trash AND inbox get deleted-  just great.

But the messages ARE shown!!! And, again, emtying the trash should NEVER 
EVER EVER be the same as compacting a folder!!!

You couldn't be more wrong. For some reason you don't understand that 
"marked-as-deleted" messages ARE visible in the INBOX!!!
