That is not it at all. For example, I like wearing high quality clothing, but I don't like it's name and what size it is to be plastered on the front of that article of clothing. This person (me) is not affraid of the project at all, on the contrary, I am rather impressed by it. I am completely re-making my mp3 collection from CD source with lame instead of Fraunhofer. What (may I ask) is the _real_ (as you say) benefit of having the version tag in the mp3 frames? Convince me! That would save me a lot of time applying and modifying my patch every time there is a new LAME version in CVS. However, until I am convinced of some practical reason to have them in there, I will not change my mind.
