Well, it's not quite clear how I got singled out in your "leaving town"
message and never imagined that it would play itself out from our little
jabs a couple months back. But since I met you at an e-group gathering and
have worked hard at being less judgmental and am trying to also take in all
sides of issues as posted here on the list - I will publicly say...
I (and I'm sure others) will miss you. I have learned to appreciate your
counterpoints and perspective on issues, especially those nearest and
dearest to you in your own neighborhood.
I do a lot of lecturing and speeches for classes on community
organizing/sustainability/and Phillips issues. At a presentation on
Tuesday I was asked, why don't they organize out in Lakeville. I don't
know whether they do or not but when you get out to St. Michael I hope you
will write us once in awhile and keep us posted on how citizen
participation and political issues are addressed out in the suburban
hinterlands - some of us are actually curious. I don't believe true social
change and grassroots democracy can happen unless it begins at the local
level and works it's way up.
I truly wish you happiness and joy in your life and most of all a good time
in your new surroundings.
For now,
Annie Young
