Most CMs are aware of a lot of things without having to have an interest in
them.Linda was way out of line in trying to have that meeting with American Inn
on two levels:
first, she set up this meeting without even giving Brian a head's up--any
inn/hotel is a city item, not one for which retiring legislators get to call
meetings;
second, American Inn nor any other hotel chain has approached the city with a
request to build anywhere around Lake and Second or Third. Until some firm does
approach the city, there really is nothing to discuss.

Actually, people are worried that the skanky prostitutes who inhabit Lake St.
will make the alleged hotel their hot sheet hotel. But truth to tell, there has
never been a hotel which did not attract prostitutes, though some higher class
hotels attract more outcall prostitution. Any hotel chain likely to want to
build anywhere will keep out the skanky prostitutes, but no hotel will keep out
all the prostitutes so long as their customers want them.

And, of course, we should all use this forum to put those rumors into wider
circulation without checking them for anything like, say, accuracy..

If you will notice, council members do not interfere in neighborhood
organizations nor do they offer opionions about neighborhood organization
business. It's a sensible stance for them to take.
