I started working with nixie tubes in 1990. At that time there were still lots of National Electronics ones around. When in Phoenix, AZ on a business trip in 1998, I drove over to Antique Electronic supply and bought out their entire stock of National nixies. Lots of NL-807 tubes in that bunch. Then in 1999-2000 I started buying up B-7971 tubes so i could build the scrolling text array that uses 16 of them. Have enough of those to make another group of 8 to eventually make a 24- tube scrolling array. Plenty of spares. Those cost $10 each then. So it is with just over 30 years of nixification under my belt that I now write this. Things are getting rather weird I have to say, what with all of the up-and-coming "new" manufacturers and with strong doses of plenty of drama to go with it along the way. But who am I to say it? I just wanted to test one of the new tubes. That is all I wanted to do I swear it.
