Okay, but then what are we "upgrading" to? I was lucky enough to get
NetConnect 3 without anybody asking for my version 2 CD, so I guess I can
still use X-Arc (should I for some reason feel the need to do so?)? But NC3
is an upgrade, so there's some new programs on the compilation. If
customers are required to return their NC2 CD's, surely the software that
has not been updated for the NC3 version (such as X-Arc) should have been
included on the NC3 version, even if it would be the old X-arc? In buying
NetConnect 2, customers bought the right to use X-Arc. If they upgrade,
they all of a sudden loose the right for which they paid?

I can understand this. Surely the readers on this list will not act this
way, but I would think less honoust users (who of course are not on this
list) will gladly return their NC2 CD, but keep the programs they still use
and are not on NC3 on their hard-disk. Our honoust list readers however
will return their NC2 CD, delete all things NC2 related from their system,
then download X-Arc again from Vapor, and ask Vapor if they can please pay
again to use a program they already paid for? Or maybe buy a seperate copy
of NC2 to get the right to use everything on it? I can see such a line of
thinking being right if we are discussing one program, where version 6 is
an update of version 5, and the distributor won't send you the full version
6 unless you return version 5, making sure you don't sell it to your
friends. But this is a compilation, where version 2 had different programs
than version 3. I prefer some of the version 2 programs (still using
AmFTP), and some of version 3. It might make legal sense to act like this,
but no customer friendly sense at all.

Dirk
