Can't say that about the trucks.  Now, the cars are much improved, as well.
That's the reason Ford didn't need a BAILOUT???
Every Chrysler product I've owned or worked on had serious defects, some as
basic as poor engineering.
Now that I'm older and not as inclined to be out in the cold or rain working on
them, I won't own a Chrysler or GM product.  I mostly owned VWs anyway, until I
bought a Subaru and discovered that it is simpler and yet more complicated and
more reliable than a VW, and has the same handling and more performance without
hopping up the engine...
That's why I stuck a Subaru engine in a VW van for a friend years before I
bought an actual Subaru car.
Subaru also is one of the few auto companies whose sales were still positive
even during the last big crunch.
BTW - ever seen a VW trike?  This guy I don't know made one and had to attach
two big slabs of iron in the front of the engine to mostly keep it from doing
wheelstands - even in 2d gear...
Guess it was cheaper than wheelie bars?

Stanley

I had an early Mustang.  Got rid of it as the "unibody" slowly rusted away.
The front frame members ended about midway back.  I had a piece of masonite
under the passenger floormat so your feet didn't drag!
