The nice thing about Idaho...you don't have to inform anyone that you're recording them.

He is now selling insurance and told me this story one time: he would not let his daughter drive from the east coast from school, because of the rep of the local cops. He went to pick her up and they were stopped and they wanted to inspect his trunk and back seat, and he had a recorder going and refused to turn it off. They asked him to and he refused and told them he was an ex cop and point blank that he didn't trust them. He then invted them to proceed with their inspection, but that they could expect him to use his tape to defend himself if they planted anything in his car to arrest him. They backed off and left him alone. It's best to record in self-defense these days because one never knows. If they can, we the people can. ________________________________ From: Kim Paddock <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, July 22, 2010 8:34:02 PM Subject: Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Cop Pulls Out Gun On Motorcyclist He never denied that he was in the wrong. He paid the ticket and all. The real question was: does anyone expect to have a privacy status while in the public? Why can they record everyone else and we can't record them? They're probably still pissed about the Rodney King thing. The cops got busted up in their crap for that one and riots ensued. In a world full of cameras and recording devices of all kinds, including satellites which can record ANYTHING it seems I don't think that any human being in their right mind would think that a public place is free from these devices. Add to that the fact that this fella had the dang thing clearly on top of his helmet in clear view of the officer. The officer was aware that he was being recorded and that's the crux of the matter. Now the cops claim "fowl" since the video was put out there and this cop now claims to not know that the camera was there right in front of his face? Please! It's just that the Gang in Blue are all pissy and had to go take all of the guy's stuff away and try to prosecute him. It won't happen. This case will end up being an embarrasment for the cops. ________________________________ From: surfswab <[email protected]> To: Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers! <[email protected]> Sent: Thu, July 22, 2010 6:09:23 AM Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Cop Pulls Out Gun On Motorcyclist Afraid I have a different take on this: Unlike most crotch rocketeers who terrorize the motoring public with their high-speed foolishness, the dumbass got caught. Now wants to mitigate by turning his illegal behavior on the cop by claiming victim status. That's bullsh*t. In my view, the cop did what he was supposed to -- he put a stop to it before somebody got hurt, plain clothes, no badge...whatever. If I'd been the perp I woulda destroyed my own tape to avoid the embarassment of my stupidity becoming even more public than it already was.
