Thanks for the replies! I'm still going to test-ride the BMW if they'll let me, but I think I'll wait for the right ST deal to come by. When searching for reviews, motorcycle.com (I think) compared the k1100 and the k1200 when the 12 came out and they liked the 12 a lot better (the 1100 was "buzzy"). The PC800 was "born to be mild."
