Thanks for replying Lar. When I got the bike (cb700s ) it wasn't running .
When I went thru all of the fuel side of things that p.o. had mentioned and
I had found it seamed to run great, but it wasn't charging. When I started
to dig,  I found the connection between stator and reg/rectifier with no
plastic connector but individual connectors all taped up with electrical
tape. Unwound tape and found connections that had obviously been hot but
not melted thru all the tape. Wanted to find stator and reg/rectifier that
were plug and play so I went with caltric in California  for both. So to
make long story linger, I opted for after market due to marital restraints
