Right. As a first step it might be useful to limit such an optimization only to 
nodes with no children (still a majority of all nodes in the repository). Later 
on, if we find an efficient way to tell whether there are applicable ACLs in a 
subtree, we can extend the optimization also to non-leaf nodes.
