Not true.  The END USER does not need these things if they have the WotC
books, but the 3rd party developer doesn't have enough material to bridge
the gap to the WotC products.  It forces 3rd party developers to create
products that inspire a purchaser to "sense the lack".  Either that or
invent a new creature with the same name to compete with the WotC version.
I just don't see an upside to either option.

You're putting words in my mouth.  I'm not saying that the material is
useless,  I'm saying that there isn't a business case for including them.
There is not enough OGC to promote the sale of WotC material.  On the
contrary, the material published promotes a schism effect that I think WotC
should avoid.  If you leave the Gith out you should probably leave out
Illithids too - and I think you would be perfectly justified in doing so.
