Call me sentimental fool, but I believe that saving the courthouse is a
worthwhile option to consider and advocate for. One of the greatest joys of
driving through small cities in the Midwest is to take in the variety and
grandeur of courthouse architecture. Has anyone been to Preston lately? Of
course I don't know if county business is still conducted from there or not,
I'm only assuming it is.
I recently visited the State Capitol building in St. Paul for the first time
and learned of the painstaking renovations and technical upgrades made to
keep that building viable in the 21st century. These efforts seem to
reflect a value for the historical significance of the architecture. I hope
that decisions won't be made hastily regarding this issue.
What do those of you from the Historical Society and the Visitor's Bureau
think?
