[Winona Online Democracy]

This is in response to Clayton Templeton's remark that it's probably the
people who live in Valley Oaks and other subdivisions who want to build
a new courthouse. I am a Valley Oaks resident, and I believe a new
courthouse would probably be the best answer, but I'm not sure at this
point. It's not because I like "new buildings," - it's more out of
necessity. You see, I have a disability, and when we looked for a
house, we couldn't find one that we thought we could renovate easily.
So we decided to build a new home so I could have a house that met my
needs. Valley Oaks was the area we chose because I wanted to be in the
city limits.

I also pushed for a new middle school because it knew how hard it would
be to make the old middle school handicapped accessible.

I love the old courthouse - it's a beautiful building - and if it can be
renovated to be totally accessible, I say go for it, but please don't
make assumptions about Valley Oaks residents.
