In any case, if my guess is correct, the answer is "sortof." Lots of
PCs put the entire framebuffer in main memory, so in that sense, the
entire memory system is completely unified.
another possibility is get a double socket motherboard and put the
fpga in the other socket. then we get access to the whole memory. we
put some opengl logic and all of the video decode logic in there. then
we optimise the open-graphics card to work with this chip to output
video.
