OK Guys, hears the latest word as a result of a "test" suggested by Marc

*booted up on my backup drive

*Opened up the primary drive and displayed the System Folder Lists
There is a valid icon by the System Folder

*Replaced System File with resedit processed System File Copy-icon
disappears, indicating an unblessed System Folder!!!!!!!!!!. Put the
original back and icon reappears.

Clear enough. It appears that the process of trying to change welcome
screen from 9.1 to 9.2 via resedit does something to the System
Suitcase that oorrupts the System Folder, at least on this machine.

It almost appears that Apple programmed it this way, but who knows.
