You've tried opening and closing the system folder a few times after you
replaced the system suitcase with that copy? That should do the trick.
Also the name must be 'System' (without the quotes), no other name must be
used such as 'System Copy' etc or it won't work.

I don't think so, I have done this reseditting (and a lot more) on the
system suitcase (and the Finder) since OS 7.6 and it always has worked. OK
sometimes you make a mistake, but that's OK because you work on a copy. Just
trash it and begin with a fresh copy. If you want to find out more about
reseditting check http://www.resexcellence.com and click on 'Previous edits'
or something like that, b/c I think he has changed the link name a few weeks
ago, but it's at the top.
