Most of the spam I have received lately has been from predatory spammers attempting to take advantage of the "new college kids." To be brief, a few weeks back we decided to purchase a laptop for my nephew who will soon finish high school and go on to university. I bought the laptop from a well know company via their website. I also visited the site of the university he will be attending to find out if they have recommendations on configurations. And, I visited a couple of sites that sell the discounted "educational" software to students. Somewhere in those site visits some nasty-words-deleted group harvested my name. I am getting five or six offers per day to "purchase" a university degree.
Yeah, I find the investment banking, aluminum siding salesmen and body parts enlargement spam annoying. But the ones that prey on the young and stupid really piss me off. They are the ones I turned in to SpamCop.
