Hi Harold.. Dell did NOT sell me a used hard drive. They sold me a brand new machine.. BUT.. one week later, they REPLACED the hard drive.. cause I had the vir** within 10 minutes of getting onto the internet..when I got it.. So. after a week.. they came and replaced it with a "refurbished hard drive".. Thats where the refurbished/used hard drive comes into play.
They were totally wrong.. because within 30 days.. if you have ANY problems - whatsoever.. you get a brand new part.. Not a refurbished one.. Though, what I've been told by numerous techs.. at Dell. is that whenever they take a computer back. they have the "right" to replace the part with a refurbished part.. BUT. that comes from Dell TECH SUPPORT.. NOT - from Dell Customer Care.. who says.. just the opposite.. I quess when I realized it. I was annoyed.. and I'll even give you "furious".. but the computer was working, and I thought it WAS in their rights to do this.. But when I spoke with the techs yesterday. and some "out right lied to me". that when I was annoyed.. One even said.. How did you find this out.. And I said, cause another tech TOLD ME.. for sure. it was refurbished. and then I refused to let it go.. If I had wanted a refurbished computer. or anything refurbished. I would've bought one.. For a heck of a lot less than I paid. .. I never buy refurbished.(except for some car parts..(as my mechanic will recommend).. but otherwise, its NEW and with a complete Extended Warranty for me.. Thats just been my way of life. Also, in combo. with now needing the video thingy.. Well, that just got me really upset. and it was time to take action.. so that I did... And the new machine. will be coming.. within about 7-10 days.. but I'll be getting the new motherboard, with the driver.. in a day or so..in the meantime...so just in case this video thingy. starts to get worse..(the customer care supervisor.. said. Let them come and install it. . She did say. she will expediate it. though.. Harold.. funny you should say. Compaq.. cause thats the very same computer. that Matt(my mils boyfriend) who lives in Bklyn... got .. from a local dealer. and had such problems.. Then again.. My sister had one. and had no problems at all.. So I guess it's the "luck of the draw".. And Harold I totally agree with you. I do my cleanups - I run my vir** scan.. check for updates. and have always maintained my computer.. probably moreso then I should.. I'm a clean nut to begin with in regards to my place..and my computer. must be "cleaned up also".. LOL.. I run ad-aware and spybot every day.. Just got into that habit.. and of course disc cleanup and defrag.. So, now it's just a wait and see.. if this next tower comes in - hassle free.. Wouldnt' that be nice.. <smile> Helene ----- Original Message ----- From: "Harold B" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, October 13, 2003 11:48 AM Subject: Re: PCWorks: A Dell Story...
