Helene: I agree with Tom. If you can find a trustworthy local computer shop (and we were lucky enough to find one), that, IMO, is the way to go.
As I had posted on a previous thread on this subject, I have contacted Dell tech support on behalf of clients and friends. In only one instance that I recall, were they of any use. My experience was that they'll tell you anything to get you off the phone. As a matter of fact, on several occasions, I was actually hung up on/disconnected.
