Say NAV 2004 installs a file called c:\program files\symantec shared\NortonShared.dll v10 Then you install Norton Utilities Minus NAV 2003 and it installs a file in c:\program files\symantec shared\ and replaces NortonShared.dll v10 with NortonShared.dll 9.
NAV 2004 could go crazy and not know what to do with v9 of that file. (Crazy = minor bug to a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) to errors on startup).
