I had the same problem with FA85/1.4 too. The problem was the metal sheet 
did not fitted the lens very well (the curve was not right). It was tough to 
tape that thing perfectly. It's the most stupid design ever. Why don't 
Pentax just use the good old one piece transparent plastic instead (like 
those on regular FA lenses)? Very very stupid decision made by Pentax. But 
then again, super glue was not a wise choice, and regular double-sided tapes 
do not cut either. I use the one (3M, 1 inch wide) bought from Fargo and it 
worked (I do not know for how long though because I sold the lens not long 
after). The metal sheet on my current FA24/2 does not fit well either (the 
edges are not flat), but it does not peel off itself so I just leave it. 
Gradly there are the LIMITED lenses so I just don't bother to buy the 
FA85/1.4 again (so to other FA* lenses). You will be amazed how some really 
great products were put down by some silly mistake. Just no more, Pentax!!!
