My comment wasn't meant to be a serious one even though I am not fond of Sigma lenses. I got burnt by Sigma in the past and I have stayed away since. Perhaps their EX lenses have improved but I constantly seeing complaints like fast wearing rubber, poor flare control, capability problem (due to reverse engeering), even fall off aperture blades etc. And all these are associated with the EX lenses. But to be fair, my adventure with the Pentax lenses is almost as interesting. :-)

I disagree with you there Alan. I think Sigma's EX line includes some really
good lenses e.g. the 70-200 2.8, and the lens construction isn't flimsy.
Furthermore, it's incredibly good value considering what you'd pay. If you
look at the cost difference between the FA 28-70 2.8 and the EX 28-70 2.8
(which are both reasonably sturdy lenses which photodo rated the same
optically), unless you have a lot of money to spare, you would consider
Sigma's offering (not to mention it stops down to 32). I don't think you're
being very fair making a sweeping generalisation like that. Can I say I
sense some snobbery?
