route.

perhaps some people don't realize Apple's 10.6 upgrade was not at all about "shiny new features"; Apple intentionally took a breather from features to streamline the core OS; 10.6 is also only a $30 upgrade

my rather dated experience with Epson drivers was that Epson doesn't build its software in OS-standard ways and thus creates its own problems when it comes to keeping Drivers updated; my last Epson printer was a Stylus Photo 1200, which was hobbled by driver problems; i'm only comfortable with Epson's scanners since they don't need drivers (i just use VueScan)

also note that there is no imperative to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6; 10.5 continues to run well as a foundation for most of the apps people are using, and 10.5 will be supported with security updates until 10.7 comes out, at least a year from now, probably a year and a half; Apple is very good about keeping most of its apps compatible with the previous OS version; i moved from 10.4 to 10.5 only a few months before 10.6 came out, and i won't even consider 10.6 until i run into some problem that 10.6 will solve for me (i am moving all the people i support up from 10.4, though, because it won't get any more security updates)
