You might look into a used M 85mm f2.0, despite not having an A setting
it has several advantages, it's not a lot bigger than a 55 f1.8, it's
not the most sought after Pentax 85mm so you can probably pick one up
from KEH for less than an A 50mm f1.4. Though it's considered a bit
soft wide open that's not a major defect in a "portrait length lens",
and really I haven't noticed that it's that soft on an APS-C camera, I'd
expect that it's build quality is a bit better than the Samyang 85mm
it's certainly more robust than the 77mm is. I've used my copy as part
of a "traditional" three lens kit with a ~35mm, (wide angle), normal, or
longish normal, and ~135mm (short-mid telephoto) filled by the 24mm,
35mm or 43mm, and 85mm since I first bought a Pentax Digital,

I'll take all of that into consideration. I'm still leaning toward the
77/1.8, though I can see myself possibly getting the Samyang and using
the leftover money to "invest" in other gear that could help my
photography -- lighting, flash, reflectors, etc.

And the reason the photos on some distributor sites do not show that is
that they are photos of non-Pentax version.
It's been a while, since that, a few new lenses came out,
and I cannot guarantee you that it still holds, but I would assume it

PS. I was considering it the cheaper alternative at that point, but
then "pulled the plug". (I am using AF on it. So, 77/1.8 is better in
that way.)
