20 years ago I was common to see "component side" and "solder side" on PCB's. I haven't done that in years, and have never had a problem with a board house.

Hi All, My PCB vendor asks me that in order to correctly ascertain about the identity of Top Layer and Bottom Layer, I should manually write the string "TOP" in the Top Copper Layer and string "BOTTOM" in the Bottom Copper Layer. I tell him that this information is embedded in the Gerber File extensions itself. e.g Design.GTL and Design.GBL means that these files correspond to Top Copper and Bottom Copper Layers respectively. I wanna ask whether this naming of Gerber file extensions by Protel conforms to standard Industry Practice or not ?. If yes, can someone comment about the legitimacy of my PCB Vendor's opinion that I need to mention the layer name in text manually. ?.... Regards, Adeel Malik. ____________________________________________________________ You are subscribed to the PEDA discussion forum To Post messages: mailto:[email protected] Unsubscribe and Other Options: http://techservinc.com/mailman/listinfo/peda_techservinc.com Browse or Search Old Archives (2001-2004): http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] Browse or Search Current Archives (2004-Current): http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] ____________________________________________________________ You are subscribed to the PEDA discussion forum To Post messages: mailto:[email protected] Unsubscribe and Other Options: http://techservinc.com/mailman/listinfo/peda_techservinc.com Browse or Search Old Archives (2001-2004): http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] Browse or Search Current Archives (2004-Current): http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]
