----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: TAB827 Message 4 in Discussion Haven't been on lately. Wish I had. It will be two years since I had my surgery for the same thing and I have been headache free and feeling good. I suffered with headaches for 4 years and it was when my left eye started blurring and I started to get this pressure behind my eye that I finally went to the dr. I had a pituitary tumor pressing on my optic nerve that the dr. told me if I didnt't have it removed, I could face the possibility of it damging the nerve to the point where I could become blind. I was also given the option of gamma knife surgery, but after doing a lot of research I opted to have the surgery. I found an excellant surgeon at John's Hopkins in Maryland who specialized in pituitary tumors and had a successful surgery on Feb. 28, 2006. Before doing anything, you need to get a second opinion and you want to make sure your dr. is a pituitary specialist. I had excellant care at John's Hopkins, all the specialists worked together and they were all up front and straight with me about everything. I had endonasal, transsphenoidal surgery and was home in 4 days. Even the billing dept. was up front and honest with me. They told me what it was going to cost for the surgery, the days in the hospital ect...and that's what i got billed.... I haven't had a headache since my surgery and I no longer feel like someone is trying to push my eyeball out. I was really scared at first too...but after talking to a lot of people, doing research, and having the support of my family and church, I got through it. I am also lucky, I am on no meds, my hormones are all normal, and my endo. dr. is amazed that I am not having any thyroid problems. I have truly been blessed through this whole thing. Good luck to you...I will keep you in my prayers... ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
