Hi. This sounds sooo familiar. I underwent my 3dConformal fractionated
radiotherapy at UCSF this past Dec for 6 wks and it was surreal and arduous. I
had the same mesh mask strapped to a LINAC (GE or Siemans). I had the same
dosages. Novalis is just one of a number of manufacturers of this type of
equipment. My research found that the most impt factors were experience and
familiarity with both the processes and the machines rather than just the
latest and greatest technology where the staff is still learning it's
idiosyncrasies. I trust your folks were as veteran as mine. I had a rotating
team of techs where the rookie had 12 years of experience. Overall, my sight
was not affected though my tumor too in the cavernous sinus - both sides - and
near, but not touching the optic chiasm. My hearing was a bit cloudy for a
number of weeks, but that has cleared up. My symptoms of nausea worsened and
then got slightly better about half way through. Overall, I got to lose 20+ of
fat :-)

Frankly I am amazed that they put you though the Radiosurgery prep before they
realized that the tumor was too close to operate. They really should have been
able to discern this from your MRI's and send you to the fractionated route
initially.

Well, best of luck and feel free to contact me directly with any questions or
need for support: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
