Good afternoon... So I have three treatments left and really look foward to it being over. Dr. Green has taken me off the Decadron completely now and I am sleeping better at night and am much less hungry. However, I did get a rare side effect from the decadron...optic pressure at glaucoma levels! So I am now on a series of beta blockers (alphagan, isatol and xalatan - all from my opthamologist) to lower the pressure in my eyes until my body completely recovers from the decadron. I have been feeling fatigued, but am still able to function during the day. It makes me feel better that you are seeing the flashes of light and smell the radiation during treatment, at least I know I am not crazy. I too count the times it goes around me and I am very conscious of where the table and gantry moves as I am being treated. If anything it makes me feel better to know I am in the same position every day and the treatment is the same every day. Dr. Green is still very pleased with the accuracy of my treatment thus far, if the numbers from the Novalis computer are correct I have had the best tolerances they have ever seen on the machine. That makes me feel better...I have also been very lucky as my Radiation Therapist Carol keeps me informaed and makes sure I know exactly whats going on during treatment, that has been important as my head is in a mask and I can't really see what is going on. So now as I get ready to finish the treatment I am very anxious to see if it worked...but I know it is a waiting game now. My MRI, bloodwork, and visual field is sceduled for 6 weeks...but even then I may not see any change...so I just hope it works!!! -dmpnyc |
