Okie doke! Here's the scoop I was able to obtain this afternoon at treatment #10. They don't use Novartis, they use Siemens fractionated external beam radiation. Almost everything else is GE products. I see the doc tomorrow and will try to get the other info so we can compare.

Turns out in addition to the brain swelling I've had, I also had some kind of allergic/sinus thing going on and that's where some of the pain has be coming from the last few days. There is no bacterial infection, yet, so antibiotics won't do a thing. But, Mucinex has worked like a charm to "loosen up" the nasal/sinus secretions and thus relieve the pressure.

My blood sugar was pretty elevated today after increasing the Decadron yesterday to 4mg three times (only because I just couldn't get in dose #4 before bed last night) So, I talked to the resident who agreed with me that since my headaches were drastically improved with Decadron 4mg three times a day, plus the Mucinex, we will leave the Decadron at that dosage for now. Hopefully, in about a week we can try decreasing the dose and get away with no more brain swelling. I just don't think I want to stay on that much Decadron for any longer than I have to. In just 5 days my face is already "rounding out" very nicely! *L* Plus, the blood sugar issues bother me, too. I'd really rather not have to chase it with insulin. What a pain to have to add one more med to my growing list!

I hope you're able to get the email in a timely fashion from MSN as I am not. I don't know why, but I never have. Anyway, it will be interesting to compare notes, so to speak as we traverse this radiation business together.
