Minnie, It is my pleasure, we are all in the same boat and should know our options and how other patients are doing with the radiation option. Anyway, week four has passed, which means I have 8 sessions left. It actually went pretty quickly. I was lucky my office gave me off for 7 weeks!! I am starting to feel a little fatigued but am also not sleeping well from the decadron. My doctor reduced the decadron from 4mg to 2 mg daily and it did help some. Like charlie, I also have a very dry mouth, but thankfully I can still taste everything. I am being hit from 6 angles and also smell the radiation when they fire it. Charlie, when the gantry passes directly over your head and your eyes are closed do you ever see faint flashes of light? I do and mentioned it to the doctor. She said some people are more sensitive than others..just wondering? Anyway, my only concerns at this point are that... 1. The optic chiasm and optic nerve are still safe 2. The radiation is actually going to stop future tumor growth and stop the over production of GH and IGF1 3. and that my pituitary gland makes it through ok, although this is like a 50/50 chance..so I have my fingers crossed -DMPNYC |
