External modems are absolutely no problem in Linux. I used SuSe 9.0
sometime ago and I had internet working when I booted it for the first
time. I had a qustion though. Can anyone who has used both internal
and external modems give a short idea about the performance ( speed,
connection drops etc. ) ?

What do you do when something goes wrong in Windoze? Maybe read the help?
Is reading the help akin to 'learn the technicalities'?
