Do not apologize to us Samba users (or even the Samba developers) Pong. I
read it somewhere from the top Samba guy himself: the SMB protocol sucks.
The only reason we still use it is because we have to support Windows
clients for one reason or another, and Samba is the language they talk
most fluently (it seems) for convenient file and print sharing.

And we have Samba because of reverse engineering. And thanks to Microsoft
continuously changing how their software talks, the Samba team has their
hands full, it seems.
