Derek raised an eyebrow at Julia when he heard the soft snickering. "I
suppose," he responded about the accent, "that I can blame that on my
mother. Had my father had his way, I would sound like everyone else in
Northern California." He smiled, his childhood had not been what he would
have liked, but he enjoyed spending the school year in the Netherlands.
Holidays were usually spent in San Francisco though. "It could be worse I
suppose, I could have Philip's accent." It seemed to be a definite woman
magnet, at least on this continent.

Julia tilted her head to the side and grinned softly before shaking her head
"You mean to tell me you might have had words like 'cool dude' and
'radical'? No thanks, I'll take the accent."
She chuckled then, "There we go! We'll have Philip come over and talk and
have him take the heat off of you. Although...." she admitted wryly
"Something tells me she likes more than the accent. Admit it, Derek, you're
a hottie."
Then she looked at the thoughtful smile he had, remembering his time in the
Netherlands and here "You don't talk much about your mother but she seems
like a wonderful woman."
She wondered what kind of woman Derek's mother was and if he would talk more
about her. Julia pretty much knew about his father and frankly, wasn't
impressed. She was definitely glad Derek didn't take after him.
Of course, she thought wryly, the same could be said about her. She had
always been told she took after her mother and it had been her mother that
had stood beside her when she had joined the Legacy, when her father had
disowned her.
She shook her head thoughtfully and looked back at Derek "What else can you
'blame' on your mother?"
"No they're not and who said I was calling HER a pushy broad, perhaps I was
talking about myself." Though she was getting a very strong opinion of
Julia Walker all right. Under other circumstances though, she might
actually like the woman.
Reese rolled her eyes "And we both know you weren't talking about yourself.
Come on, it's me you're talking to, remember?"
