Yes, I did, should have mentioned that. For what it's worth, I think
the button is labeled "Install Taskbar Bar". It's now labeled "Remove
Taskbar Bar", which does seem to indicate that I clicked it. :)

OK, I didn't do that, I installed to the common folder. I will
uninstall, reinstall, and try that.

Not sure what you mean by that. Any install generates a UAC dialog.
You can't write to folders under C:\Program Files without elevated
privileges.
