Do you know if the 1400 battery is any good ? When was the last time it was charged ?
I've used a Duo AC adapter(weakest model M7783) to charge a 1400 battery, over nite after running it down w/ Battery Amnesia :

Yes, it seems slower and may not charge the battery w/ the 1400 running.

I'm not sure on the last charge or quality of the battery, but I do know that the Duo 230 works fine with this adaptor. Like yours, mine is also an M7783.

The green light in the upper rt. corner (when the 1400 is open) comes on (flashes) when in sleep mode.

okay good to know; mine just stay on constantly when I press the power button on the back. It goes off when I push it again. The power button on the front doesn't change anything

I just removed the battery module and the CD ROM module, plugged the Duo AC Adapter (M7783) into the 1400 ... booted fine. If you know the Duo AC adapter is good, that won't be your problem. W/ the battery and the CD out, the machine gets all the adapter's juice.

Hmmm... I tried removing the floppy and battery and still no go. :-(

I don't think amount of RAM is so important to the Vimage card. But what OS is installed can be important. Both in the OS's RAM requirement and which System the Vimage will work well with ... Do you know what OS is installed ?

I don't actually, the machine just came to me like this.

Thanks for all your help, please keep the ideas coming! :-)
