yep, I'm clever like that....  Thanks for mentioning it, all changed now.

Yep, your right.  When I went to change my password I thought I'd check
my keychain (I use another password application for most stuff), and what
did I find?  8 copies of my email login.  There were separate entries for
pop and smpt but multiples of both.  Somehow it seems that although I was
entering the correct details in the powermail settings, powermail was
pulling an old entry from my keychain.  Anyway... I deleted all the
keychain entries that powermail had added, re-entered my settings into
powermail and I can send mail with authentication. phew.
