No you haven't. This can't be done in OS X either. I'm pretty sure there's third party software available to enhance your dialog boxes in OS 9x. Apple can be mean at times! Try the utilities from: http://www.poweronsoftware.com/ > Second I wish there was some way of checking the configuration of the > SCSI card as we can easily do in Win2K. If the driver allows it, you should be able to do it from the Control Panel. > Third not being able to d. click the status bar and get a window filling > the screen is a fuss though I seem to have read that there is a key > modifier that does this...more to remember! I think that you can do that in OS 9. I think it was also introduced in the Mac first...or was it in Photoshop for collapsing and expanding the palettes? I'm fast forgetting my OS 9. There should be a button at the top of the window to enlarge it. Try the second button from the right to fill the screen with the window and then double-clicking the window bar to collapse and open the window, can be very useful for lining up several documents. > Forth is the inability to re-size windows from any side or top and > bottom, but I do like the much easier to grab re-sizing area bottom > right! I hate it! If I have a palette/panel lined up on the right of the screen, as I do with most apps, I have to keep moving it on screen to size it and then back again against the screen. It's an awful system and one that's been continued in OS X. I guess the window designers were asleep. It's much, much easier in Windows to grab a window from ANY side and resize it. The right thing to do would've been to give resize handles at the bottom left and right and also to have the pointer change to resize when you hovered over the sides. Photoshop used to have this awful crop that you could only grab from 8 handles. If you were zoomed in to place the crop precisely, you had to keep scrolling or zooming in and out. Absolute crap implementation. I did put in a wish for it to change to reflect even the cheapest scanner software. Hopefully it had some influence but more likely someone woke up on the Photoshop team. Now you can grab the marching ants anywhere and it's soooo useful. > I am used to the 'in your face' information that Win2k gives whereas the > Mac seems to be hidden from view! There are extensions in OS 9 but then there are DLL's in Windows that cause just as much grief. Thankfully they've gone in OS X. OS X is prettier, no doubt about it but it does hog the RAM and the CPU. I can't stand the screen shots for XP though I like Windows 2000. XP looks as if it was designed for people with failing or partial eyesight.
