No you haven't. This can't be done in OS X either. I'm pretty sure there's
third party software available to enhance your dialog boxes in OS 9x. Apple
can be mean at times! Try the utilities from:
http://www.poweronsoftware.com/
Been there and cannot see anything to ease the pain! Anyone else got suggestions?

Second I wish there was some way of checking the configuration of the
SCSI card as we can easily do in Win2K. Perhaps things like this are
not encouraged, but there is something comforting being able to actually
check that everything is set correctly!
Not sure what you mean. If the driver allows it, you should be able to do it
from the Control Panel.
With Win2k or any other Win OS as far as I know at start-up hitting Ctrl A takes you to SCSI utilities where you can set all sorts of things! Going to Control Panels on the Mac fails to show me anything SCSI....what should I be looking for please?

Third not being able to d. click the status bar and get a window filling
the screen is a fuss though I seem to have read that there is a key
modifier that does this...more to remember!
I think that you can do that in OS 9.
Sorry but nope and I cannot find a key that will make this work...yet! I have been used to this for years and it's hard to stop oneself trying to do it!

I think it was also introduced in the
Mac first...or was it in Photoshop for collapsing and expanding the
palettes? I'm fast forgetting my OS 9. There should be a button at the top
of the window to enlarge it.
Yes but only to what you had previously sized to....not the same thing.<G>

Try the second button from the right to fill
the screen with the window and then double-clicking the window bar to
collapse and open the window, can be very useful for lining up several
documents.

Forth is the inability to re-size windows from any side or top and
bottom, but I do like the much easier to grab re-sizing area bottom
right!
I hate it! If I have a palette/panel lined up on the right of the screen, as
I do with most apps, I have to keep moving it on screen to size it and then
back again against the screen.
Perhaps an easier to grab edge like Windows but more grab able and keeping the easy to pull Mac bottom right area.

I am used to the 'in your face' information that Win2k gives whereas the
Mac seems to be hidden from view! These are just my random
thoughts.....no offence intended<G>
Probably because the Mac requires less information to run? There is no
Registry and there are no Bios pages. There are extensions in OS 9 but then
there are DLL's in Windows that cause just as much grief.
Dlls have never given me a problem but certainly Extensions seem to be a source of many problems from what I read here.

snip
OS X is prettier, no doubt about it but it does hog the RAM and the CPU. I
can't stand the screen shots for XP though I like Windows 2000. XP looks as
if it was designed for people with failing or partial eyesight.
Yes Win2K is clear and not bloated by pretty rubbish. Configure the appearance carefully and you can get a really nice clean and neutral scheme....less [pretty less distracting...but that's what I like!

Cheers

Richard
