I had l a look at mine (the latest version of OSX, installed last week), and it had a brit flag flying. Turns out the yank option was laos ticked for some reason (bug or default?).....I changed it to just brit and flag disappears from display....
Same here, when I uncheck the US flag option in the input menu the flags in the menu bar disappear. However when I restart, the Union Flag reappears in the menu bar along with the option of the star spangled banner. Even though going to customise menu shows me the US option is still unchecked?
Running 10.2.6 but this has been like this for the last couple of OS updates. I think it's just a minor bug as everything else has been working just fine (Famous last words!).
