Blimey, don't know about that stars and stripes virus, but just in case people have missed it...don't open any mystery attachments ending .pif....it's a worm. It's PC only, but it somehow messed with my mac (after I'd tried to open it in Virtual PC!). The worst thing was that it scrabbled a couple of Tiff's. (Fixed it by going to Nortens site via Virtual PC.)

As far as the flag is concerned (I assume it's appearing in the menu bar), it's actually a fault from the OSX 10.2.4 upgrade (and it wasn't fixed in 10.2.5 or 6). I don't want any flag at all, but the union jack always appears after restart.

The only way to get rid of it is to go into System Preferences, (or click the flag), go to International, click the Input Menu tap, and select then deselect any other flag (the union jack should be greyed-out). Now it will only reappear if you shut down, sleep's not a problem. The only other thing to do is wait for the new OSX upgrade and hope it's fixed this time, apparently Apple are aware of the problem.

For some reason - only in Photoshop - my Mac keeps changing over to a
US flag rather than a Union Flag. It's a legitimate UK copy of
Photoshop, and a UK Mac with OSX updates only from Software Update.

The only thing I've changed in a long while is I was given and loaded
some Photoshop brushes. And I've got rid of all the other languages
in 'International'.

Mike

It's not a Photoshop issue, so I wouldn't worry about the source of those
brushes. But I hope you ran the brushes through a virus checker as there is
a pro-US virus doing the rounds. It starts with the flag on the menu bar and
then changes your dictionary to US and then eventually the desktop
background to a start and stripes. I would wipe your HDD and start again
before it starts to play the stars and stripes when you boot - that's
another sign!!!

OTOH, look under International > Input and make sure only English is
selected. The flag only appears if you have more than one selected and
you're probably using the shortcuts to change from one to the other.
