I can heartily recommend http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/ as a prime 
supplier of discs. Their prices are competitive and the website gives 
info about the discs to aid selection. I purchased DVD -Rs from them 
and have had no problems.

Currently I use a LaCie firewire Dual burner that treats +R and -R 
discs perfectly.

alamy have so far managed to read -R and +R DVD's from this machine. 
One thing to remember is not to stick a label onto the disc, unlike 
CD's DVDs are more sensitive. Alamys own qc dept recommended I write 
directly on the disc otherwise there is a good chance they'll fail to 
read.
