Hard disks are cheap, but the benefit of a logical partition on another
drive is that it does not get fragmented if you only use it for temporary
files, and, more important, it prevents your main drive/partition getting
very fragmented.

My C drive is my boot and program disk, D is for picture data, and G is a
partition on the G drive for temporary files... but I will get another disc
of two, or keep my existing machine as a print/net server and get a fast
machine.
